What is volunteering?
Volunteering, or volunteer activity, is socially beneficial work done voluntarily without expectation of monetary compensation.
How much will I earn?
Volunteering is unpaid.
What languages do I need to know to participate in this program?
English.
What level of English is required to join the program?
Conversational English is required.
Do you need a university degree to participate in medical internships?
If you want to take part in medical programs, you’ll typically need a medical education or to be a student.
Do I have to be a student to join the program?
No — we welcome anyone aged 18 or older to join our volunteer program. Many projects don’t require special skills or previous experience, but you should be able to adapt to a different culture and be ready to make a positive impact.
Can I volunteer if I’m under 18?
Some projects accept volunteers under 18, but you’ll need to provide parental consent.
How do I pay for the program?
After signing the agreement at IEC, the $335 registration fee must be paid within 7 calendar days.
The second installment of the program fee is due after the participant is fully registered in the sponsor’s system.
When should I apply for the program?
The Volunteer in Asia program is year-round. You should submit your documents at least 2–3 months before your preferred start date.
How long can I participate?
The minimum duration for a volunteer program is 2 weeks.
Where will I live?
Accommodation is provided in a room shared with 4–6 people.
In Indonesia, you can stay in a private room for an additional €40.
How many working hours will I have, and will I have any days off?
Volunteers usually work 5–6 hours a day and have two days off per week.
Will anyone meet me at the airport?
The sponsor meets participants at the airport.
When do programs start?
Volunteer programs in Asia typically start every Monday.
Can I join a program with my friends?
Yes, of course.
What insurance do I need?
We recommend participants purchase medical insurance. You’ll get all insurance details from the IEC office.
How do I pay for the program?
