Animal rescue and rehabilitation
This is a wonderful project focused on rescuing and rehabilitating animals in Cape Town. Residents live in extreme poverty, and there’s a serious problem with stray animals, mostly dogs and cats. Because of the country’s difficult economic and social situation, these animals are often neglected and have to fend for themselves, which frequently leads to hunger and illness. To address this, an animal rescue and rehabilitation center was established. The center is a non-profit organization that rescues, cares for, and sterilizes stray animals, aiming to find new homes for them. The center can only hire a few permanent staff and relies on volunteers to help with daily tasks and care for these vulnerable animals.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Typical responsibilities:
— feed and play with the animals
— clean dog kennels/cages
— walk the dogs
Social Work
This project aims to support children with physical and intellectual disabilities. Volunteers work in public schools and orphanages.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Typical duties:
— help dress, feed, and bathe the children
— help with homework
— assist teachers
