What is volunteering?
Volunteering, or volunteer activity, is socially beneficial work done without expectation of pay.
Is Argentina safe?
As in any country, it’s important to follow basic safety precautions. Avoid unsafe neighborhoods, keep a close eye on your belongings, and follow your coordinators’ advice.
Will I be paid?
Volunteering isn’t paid — it’s work for a cause. Plus, in Argentina you’ll meet volunteers from other countries — a cross-cultural exchange is guaranteed!
What language skills do I need to participate in this program?
Spanish and English.
What if I don’t know Spanish?
The Volunteer program in Argentina includes intensive Spanish courses, so no worries if you don’t speak Spanish.
Can I participate in the program without knowing Spanish?
Unfortunately, no. English proficiency among people in Argentina is very low.
What level of Spanish do I need to participate in the program?
You need to speak Spanish at a conversational level.
I speak Spanish well. Can I join a Volunteer program in Argentina without taking Spanish classes?
Yes, but keep in mind that when you arrive in Argentina you’ll attend an orientation session where we’ll assess your language level, and if it’s too low you’ll need to take Spanish classes.
I know Spanish well. Can I take the courses for just two weeks?
Yes.
Will there be any free time?
Yes. Volunteers usually work 4–5 days a week for a few hours a day. You’ll have time to explore Argentina, travel, and take part in cultural exchange.
Do you need to be a student to join the program?
No, we welcome anyone aged 18 or older to join our volunteer program. Many projects don’t require special skills or previous experience, but you should be able to adapt to a different culture and be ready to contribute to a good cause.
Can I attend Spanish classes without taking part in the volunteer project afterward?
Yes.
Can I attend the courses for more than four weeks?
Of course. You can study Spanish as much as you want.
How do I pay for the program?
After signing the agreement at IEC, you’ll need to pay the registration fee of $335 within 7 calendar days.
The second part of the program fee is payable after you’re fully registered in the sponsor’s system.
When should I apply for the program?
Volunteer in Argentina is a year-round program. You should submit your documents at least 2-3 months before your preferred start date.
How long can I participate?
Volunteer projects run from a minimum of 4 weeks up to a maximum of 24 weeks.
How do we match you with a volunteer project?
Your volunteer project will take place during your 4-week Spanish course.
Will I receive a certificate after completing the language courses?
Yes, of course.
How many working hours will I have, and will I have any days off?
On average, volunteers work 20–30 hours a week and get two days off.
Where will I live?
Participants usually stay with an Argentine host family or in a volunteer house, depending on the project. This lets you fully immerse yourself in the country’s culture.
Can I join a program with my friends?
Yes, of course.
What insurance do I need?
We recommend participants get health insurance. The IEC office will provide all insurance details.
Will someone meet me at the airport?
The sponsor meets participants at Cordoba airport. Language courses start on Mondays, so participants should arrive on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
