What level of English do I need to participate in the program?

To participate in the program, your English level must be at least Intermediate. A participant in the Internship in Brazil program must be able to speak and understand English fluently.

Do I need to know Portuguese to join the program?

This requirement isn’t mandatory, but it will be a significant advantage when searching for a Meta internship.

Is it difficult to pass an English-language interview?

Absolutely not! During the language check, the conversation is casual and covers general topics — where you study, what subjects you study or have studied, why you want to join the program, whether you have hobbies, and more. The interview is with the program sponsor over Skype, and your camera must be on.

How to pay for the program?

After you sign the agreement with IEC, you’ll pay the registration fee of $400 within 7 calendar days. The second part of the program fee must be paid within 14 calendar days after your sponsor finds an internship placement and you confirm the offer.

What’s the minimum program duration?

Internship durations in Brazil are flexible, ranging from 1 to 12 months. It all depends on the host company.

Where will I live during the Internship in Brazil?

If housing isn’t provided by the employer, the program sponsor is ready to help with your housing search. Housing costs depend on the internship city and the season. Approximate prices range from $300 to $900 per month. You can get more information about this service’s cost from an IEC representative.

My friend and I are going together. Can we work in the same city?

This option is possible, but the sponsor can’t guarantee it. When applying, you’ll need to provide the first and last name of the friend you’d like to travel with.

How much can I earn?

Internships can be paid or unpaid, depending on the position and the employer. A possible stipend is about $200 per month. Some employers may cover transportation costs or meal expenses during working hours.

When can I fly to Brazil?

You can book your ticket to Brazil only after you’ve obtained the appropriate visa and agreed on your arrival date with the program sponsor in advance.

Can I change my employer?

All documents will be made out to a specific employer, and that employer can’t be changed. If you have any disagreements with your employer, contact your sponsor — they’ll help you find the best solution.
