What level of English do I need to participate in the program?
For the counselor position, at least Upper-Intermediate; for service staff, Intermediate.
Is it hard to pass the English proficiency interview?
The first step to join the program is an interview at IEC. It’s an informal conversation about general topics — where you study, why you want to join the program, your hobbies, and more.
How do I pay for the program?
After you sign the agreement at IEC, the registration fee of 335 USD must be paid within 7 calendar days. The second installment of the program fee must be paid within 14 calendar days after the sponsor finds a camp and you confirm the offer.
My friend and I are going together. Can we work in the same city?
Camp placements depend on the potential participant’s experience and skills. Therefore, the sponsor can’t guarantee placement with a friend.
Where are children’s camps located in the USA?
Most camps are set in picturesque forested areas, away from major cities and a bit removed from the outside world.
Do you have to be a student to work as a camp counselor?
This requirement is optional. Both students and recent graduates with experience working with young people can apply for the counselor position — for example, teachers, coaches, or educators. Candidates should also have creative and/or athletic skills.
How long does the program last?
The minimum work period is 9 weeks — you can’t leave earlier than that. The earliest start date is early to mid-May, and the latest is mid-June. You may have the option to work until the end of August or into early September. Work dates may vary depending on the camp’s schedule.
