Au Pair in USA
Live in the USA with an American host family, gain experience and earn a stipend. The Au Pair exchange program is open to anyone who loves kids and is ready for new experiences.
How do I apply?
To enroll in a program, simply call us or fill out the form — choose “Schedule a consultation” or “Enroll.” After that, the program coordinator will walk you through every step of the enrollment process.
What documents do I need to register?
Completed application form;
References confirming experience working with children (at least 2);
Character reference (at least 1) — can be provided by former teachers or employers;
Interview in English with an IEC representative;
Completion of a psychological test (after registering on the sponsor’s website);
Host family letter (in English);
Copy of driver’s license (local and international);
Copy of secondary school diploma and higher-education diploma, if available;
Medical report;
Police clearance certificate;
Copy of passport;
Photo collage, photos, and preferably a video (upload to the sponsor’s website).
What visa do I need?
Au Pair USA participants receive a J-1 visa.
What documents do I need to apply for a visa?
You’ll need a separate set of documents for the visa; some of them will be sent by the program sponsor via courier. Your IEC representative will give you a more detailed list.
Do I need to attend an interview with a consular officer?
Yes, participants in the program attend an embassy interview to obtain a J-1 visa. It’s important to prepare for it. Check with your IEC representative — they’ll give you the information you need.
What kind of passport do I need to have on hand?
Under the participation agreement, the participant must provide IEC with a valid passport for international travel no later than 1 (one) month before the earliest possible program start date. The participant must also hold a passport that is valid for international travel at least two months before the earliest program start date.
