How do I apply?
To apply for the program, just call us or fill out the form — book a consultation or submit an application. Then our coordinator will walk you through every step of the enrollment process.
What documents do I need to register?
Completed application form;
Recommendation letters confirming experience working with children (at least two);
Character reference (at least one) — may be provided by former teachers or employers;
Letter in German to the host family (Host family letter);
Medical report;
Copy of secondary / higher education diploma with a German translation;
Language certificate confirming your German level;
Copy of driver’s license (recommended but not mandatory);
Copy of passport;
Certificate of no criminal record.
What visa do I need?
Participants in the Au Pair in Germany program get a German national visa (for stays in the country longer than 3 months).
What documents do I need to apply for a visa?
You’ll need a separate set of documents for the visa. A representative of IEC will provide the list.
Do I need to attend an interview at the consulate?
Yes, program participants have an interview at the embassy to obtain their visa.
What kind of passport do I need to have?
Under the participation agreement, the participant must provide IEC with a valid passport for international travel no later than 1 (one) month before the earliest possible program start date. The participant must also already hold a passport valid for international travel at least two months before the earliest program start date.
