от $150
What level of English and French do I need to participate in the program?

To join the program, it’s recommended that your language level be at least Intermediate.

Do I need a university degree?

The main requirement for enrollment in the program is a completed secondary education (high school). A university degree is a plus, but it isn’t the primary criterion.

How can I pay for the program?

After you sign the agreement at IEC, you’ll need to pay a $150 registration fee within 7 calendar days.

What counts as experience working with children?

Working as a teacher, nanny, at a camp, participating in events, and other similar roles: any position where a prospective participant worked directly with children.

When should I apply for the program?

The Au Pair in France program runs year-round, but you need to submit your documents at least 4–6 months before your desired start date.

Can I apply to two program sponsors at the same time?

Yes, you can. The program fee doesn’t double. But you’ll need to fill out two separate sets of documents.

How does the search and placement with a host family work?

Once you complete all required forms and submit the necessary documents, you’ll be added to the lists accessible to host families. When a host family selects an Au Pair, they schedule an interview to discuss the job details.

Can an Au Pair “refuse” a host family after speaking with them?

Yes, program participants can do this, but only a limited number of times. Before doing so, an Au Pair should inform their IEC office about the situation and consult with them on whether they should decline the host family.

Can I choose my host family or the city where I’d like to work?

Participants in the Au Pair in France exchange program can’t choose their host family or city.

How many days off will I get?

As an Au Pair, you get 1-2 days off per week (usually Saturday and Sunday), and 2 weeks of paid vacation per year.

What duties does an Au Pair have?

It depends on each host family, but in general, Au Pair participants play with the children and take them on walks. They may help with homework, drive the kids to school and pick them up. They can cook for the children and assist the family with light household chores. The schedule and duties are discussed and agreed upon with the host family.

What kind of children will the Au Pair work with?

The children’s ages usually match the Au Pair’s experience.

Can I change my host family?

If for some reason you can’t get along with your host family, first reach out to your program sponsor for advice. They’ll help sort things out and, if needed, try to find you a new host family. Don’t suddenly leave the family or leave France without warning anyone about the situation!
